Community Catholic Youth Ministry

CCYM is a multi-parish youth group for the middle and high school students of Sacred Heart, St. Catherine’s, and St. Ignatius Hilltop. We strive to offer a variety of opportunities for our students to grow in faith and in community, such as Youth Nights, bonfires, retreats, movie nights, bowling, Bible studies, outdoor excursions, service projects, and more.

To receive announcements and updates from the youth ministry, you can: text the letters “ccym” to 84576 to join our Flocknote texting list, follow us on Instagram and Facebook @ccymcharlescounty, or scroll down to see our calendar.

Upcoming Events

Holy Thursday Pilgrimage
All students in grades 6-12, plus parents, are invited to join us on our Holy Thursday Pilgrimage on Thursday, April 14th. The Holy Thursday Pilgrimage is an old tradition, where pilgrims visit 7 churches to pray before the Blessed Sacrament, keeping watch with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Our exact route and schedule is still being confirmed as we try to plan for as close to 7 churches as possible, but we start with 7pm Mass at Sacred Heart and will return to Sacred Heart by midnight. The plan is to travel by car, so drivers are needed. Please RSVP to let us know how many pilgrims to expect. Unaccompanied minors will need a youth group registration filled out (if they do not already have one for the year).

Summer Camp: Volunteer or Apply for a Paid Position!
Sacred Heart Summer Camp is now accepting volunteers and applications to be a paid camp counselor! Our camp is a great way to spend your summer: helping the community, having daily opportunities for Mass, lessons on the faith, and time in prayer, and getting to make friends with other teens and young adults working alongside you. For more information, see our camp page (linked below).

This amazing weekend is open to students currently in grades 8-12 and will take place June 10-12, 2022 at Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH. At this point, initial registration has passed, but it is still possible to get a spot by contacting the youth minister and having a $50 deposit ready.

Where do we meet?
Since we are a multi-parish group, CCYM normally meets in one of these locations: 1) The Sacred Heart Friendship Room, which is the hall beneath the church. It can be found by entering the doors at the back of the church, or by entering through the front of the church and going down the stairs on either side of the vestibule. 2) The St. Catherine's Hall & Field located at 7636 Port Tobacco Rd. 3) The CCYM House, which is located at 106 Port Tobacco Rd. The CCYM House is a three-story building to the immediate left of Archbishop Neale School. It used to house the sisters who taught at the school but now hosts our students on the first floor.

Help us thrive!
The youth ministry is always looking for adults dedicated to helping our students grow in faith and in community. Without our adult volunteers, youth ministry could not exist, much less thrive. Some of our volunteers contribute by chaperoning youth nights, others by providing food, others through hospitality - with such a variety of gifts and experiences our volunteers bring to the table, the possibilities are endless. If you are interested in investing some of your time or talent in our youth ministry, click the button below to fill out some basic contact information and share how you might like to help.

COVID-19 Policies
At our in-person meetings, CCYM will be following safety guidelines as given by the Archdiocese, our parishes, and local community. We ask that all students, parents, and volunteers respect and abide by the current policies and guidelines. For our part, we will have hand sanitizer and extra face masks available and will clean high-touch surfaces. Any food at our activities will be distributed as safely as possible. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the youth minister.
