"Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament is necessary for the completion of Baptismal grace. For the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."
--Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1285
For children, Confirmation preparation is a two year process normally beginning in 7th grade and concluding in 8th grade. Confirmation Prep is not meant to be a replacement for faith formation, so candidates must be enrolled in either (1) a Catholic school or (2) our regional Sunday religious education program in addition to formally enrolling in our Confirmation Preparation Program. Contact our Confirmation coordinator Ms. Anna Albrittain at 301.934.2261 ext. 105 or by clicking here with questions.
For adults, please call Mr. William Wannall on 301.934.2261, ext. 107 to enroll in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Classes are held every Tuesday, September through May, from 7-8:30pm
We ask for your patience as we plan for 2020-2021 Confirmation Prep amid COVID-19 uncertainties and restrictions. Thank you.
