Funeral Masses at Sacred Heart

We Are Here For You During Your Time of Loss

We offer you our condolences for the passing of your loved one. Please be assured of our prayers for you at this time—our clergy always remember the recently deceased in their prayers at daily Mass. For those wishing to have a funeral and/or burial at Sacred Heart, we are happy to help you in this time in order to commend the soul of your loved one to God, to offer thanks to God for his or her life, and to be strengthened in the hope of the final victory of Christ and the resurrection of the body.

Our funeral Masses are usually held Monday-Friday at 10am. We do accommodate viewings in the church for up to 1 hour before the funeral Mass. Please inquire about services such as funeral program design and printing, livestream/video services, etc., with our parish office staff . Our parish hall, the Friendship Room, is available for repasts. Please contact the parish office at 301-934-2261 for pricing and insurance requirements.

Step 1

In most cases, the first step is to reach out to the funeral home of your choice. Our office staff and clergy have a great working relationship with all of our local funeral homes. During that initial meeting, the funeral director will reach out to our office staff on your behalf  to coordinate available dates.

Step 2

Once a date has been selected, we request a meeting between one of our clergy and the immediate family . During this time, details such as the selection of readings, music, personal information about the deceased, etc., are discussed. Please review the selection of readings and music below before this meeting.

Our Cemetery

Our cemetery is administered by Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington, DC's Southern Maryland Regional Office. We offer both traditional burials as well as the burial of cremains in our new columbarium. They may be reached at 301-475-5005.
