Sacred Heart Fertility Awareness

"The body, and it alone, is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine."
Theology of the Body

The goal of Sacred Heart Fertility Awareness is to be an accessible resource for the local community to learn about natural family planning, Theology of the Body, and to support a culture of life. All are welcome.

Humanae Vitae

Translated as “Of Human Life,” Humanae Vitae is a  papal encyclical by Pope Paul VI in 1969 defending and reiterating Church teaching on family planning, sterilization, contraception, and abortion.

Ellen Blumhardt is a certified Billings Ovulation Method® instructor and has been teaching fertility awareness since 2017. She is passionate about sharing how young people can live authentic Catholic lives in the twenty-first century, especially when it comes to fertility. Her other interests as a fertility awareness educator include promoting holistic women’s health and sustainability. In the past, she has also taught elementary music and volunteered as a babywearing educator. A Maryland native, she and her husband Andrew moved to La Plata in 2014 shortly after getting married, and they have been parishioners at Sacred Heart since. They are blessed with two sons and one precious daughter with special needs.
